Since time immemorial, the Himalayas has been recognized as thesanctuary for ascetics and sages. The Himalayas also occupy a centralplace in Hinduism. The whole region is considered the realm of Shiva-the supreme ascetic, and "Pashupati" - the protecting deity of pastoralherds. In his manifestation asthe cosmic darer, the Natraja, he rhythmically creates and destroys thecosmos.


Manimahesh Lake (also known as Dal Lake ) Held sacred to Lord Shiva lies in the Budhil valley at the foot ofMount Kailash (5,660 metres above sea level), which is perhaps the highest of sacred waters in entire Chamba district. This lake is supposed tobless by Goddess Kali and protected by Lord Shiva. A state-level fair and yatra ( pilgrimage ) is held everyyear at this lake during the month of August or September. It is situated at 27 kms. from Bharmour at an altitudeof 13390 Fee.


About Journey and Route

Kailash View

Route follows from Chamba City ( Headquarter of District Chamba ) having altitude of 1006 meters to Bharmour ( 2195 meters altitude ) which is 69 kms. from Chamba City upto Manimahesh located at a distance of 28 kms. from Bharmour town. Ater crossing Khadamukh and reaching Hadsar village, a 14 kms. trek is nedeed to perform to climb upto the sacred waters of Manimahesh Lake and have a divine experience of viewing Mountain Kailash. The trek while providing a divine experiemce to those who dare to climb it to the top enriching their eyes with natural vistas and heaven like scenery along the way is not seem that easy to accomplish by some people and that is where HimachalWorld ( a unit of Aroma Travel Desk, Hotel Aroma Palace Chamba City ) steps in to fulfil the desire of devotee of Lord Shiva by providing Helicopter Yatra to Manimahesh.



Three routes leading to Manimahesh Lake are (i) Through Kugti Pass for pilgrim from Lahaul and Spiti. (ii) Through Jalsu Pass leading from Tyari village for pilgrims from Kangra and Mandi area. (iii) The popular and easiest from Chamba city via Bharmour following 14 kms. trek from Hadsar village which takes two days and one overnight stay at Dhancho through a well maintained path.

How to Reach

Manimahesh Yatra can easily be accomplished from Chamba city. Once you reach Chamba city, ( Chamba Tourism and Distance from various places ) you can easily


start your journey from Chamba City to Bharmour and then to Hadsar village. 13 kms. trek from Hadsar village takes 2

days and after trekking about 6 kms. a place named Dhancho is reached having open flat meadow. Accommodation is available here in tents and it is advisable to take a night halt before completing other half of the journey. People here serve pilgrims free food. After starting next half of the trek, Dhancho waterfall is reached at Gauri Nallah. From there the rest of the climb is steep but the path is improved and maintained comparing to old days. The steep trek and climb passes through twisty road pattern, flowering meadow and Birch trees. A number of community kitchens are their set by service providers around 3600 meters altitude. After short break here the path to Manimahesh Lake can be done in one go while viweing waterfall emerging from Manimahesh Lake and taking a further trek of 1.5 kms through grass filled ridges leading right to sacred Manimahesh Lake.

Day 01: - Pathankot Chamba

On arrival at Pathankot/ Chakki Bank Railway Station we shall transfer you towards Chamba, Night stay at Hotel Aroma Palace Chamba.

Same day local sightseeing: - Chamunda Temple, Luxmi Narayan Temple, Chamba Museum and Boating Point

Day 02: - Chamba Manimahesh Chamba

After Having Breakfast shall proceeds towards Bharmour via Taxi, On arrival at Bharmour shall visit to the Chaurasi Temples of Sidhs, Chaurasi Temple Complex and the only temple of "DHARAMRAJ-YAMA" there which is the only one temple in the India and there is a story about the temple that after the death when soul travels to the end destination they have to stops here in this temple for settling the accounts which he had did in his life, so recommended to visit this temple once in his life. After that flew to Gauri Kund and then a walking journey to the Dal Lake, after Having Darshan and Holy Bath shall back to Gauri Kund for the flew back to Bharmour. One can also opt for the Darshan of Bharmani Temple also. The temple is on the walking distance of half an hour and then back to Chamba for overnight stay.

Day 03: - Chamba Pathankot


After Having Breakfast we shall check out the hotel and leave for Khajjiar and Dalhousie, local sightseeing of these places and thereafter depart for Pathankot and from there we shall board Train or Volvo to way back to Delhi, Overnight Journey in Bus / Train
